The Playhouse Theatre is inviting a Director to quote for the following:

Proud to be brings together 20 people from the LGBTQ+ community aged 16 to 70+. Through a series of workshops a Writer will, through participant lead discussion, create a script, envisaged to be of 60 minutes which will premiere at the Playhouse Theatre during this years Pride Festival. The script is not prescribed and can be from any genre, viz. Drama, dance, opera, musical theatre, verbatim, all of the above intertwined to make an evening and tell a story for the community.


The particpants will through discussion contribute and share their experiences of growing up in NI as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. The Writer will form a basis of a storyline from these discussions and work with the Director and Producer through a draft process to bring the play to the stage.

We are seeking a Director for Proud to be. We are particularly interested in hearing from a member of the LGBTQ+ community for this role. The Director will work alongside the Writer, Producer Kieran Griffiths and the Proud to be team.

The Director should be available to attend meetings and activity on key dates including those listed below.
- 10 Proud to be workshops
- To direct the production and lead a design team.
- To attend Production meetings
- To be available for all marketing calls and consult on marketing material and promotion.
- To attend technical and dress rehearsals and opening night giving appropriate notes.

The Producer and Director will select a creative and production team who are flexible and responsive to the creative process, and who are supportive of a community cast.

Key Dates
The get-in is planned in Playhouse on the Mon 17th August with the production running 25th - 29th
August. Some participants may want to appear in the final production.
