Prints and Princesses An exhibition by Adrian Newton Tuesday 20th October 2015 to Saturday 31st October 2015

Original Woodcut Prints

Adrian studied Fine Art and a PGCE in Art and Design at John Moore's University, Liverpool. He moved to Derry in 2002 ( a woman, now his wife!) He works as a substitute teacher and part time picture framer.
Adrian started making woodcuts about two years ago, he enjoys the process, firstly drawing, then carving, then the anticipation and surprise when pulling the first print. He loves the aesthetic qualities, the different styles achieved through endless possibilities of line and mark-making.
His subject matter is very simple, based on the question, 'what makes him happy?' His three young daughters feature heavily in his work, their innocence, naiveity, playfulness and vulnerability provide constant inspiration. He love carving blocks, he loves his children, it's the perfect combination for him to make art.
Exhibition launch Tuesday 20th October at 6pm. All are welcome.
