Join us for an eight-week creative book circle exploring the themes and tools in adrienne marie brown's Emergent Strategy, facilitated by Gemma Walker Farren.
That's Powerful is a community arts programme that engages with social justice issues through an arts-led approach. Using creative activities like storytelling, music, writing, theatre, visual arts and more, we create welcoming spaces where people can connect, share their experiences and explore ideas together.
During this workshop we will be using creative practice as a tool for inquiry into the themes of Emergent Strategy. Participants will shape the themes explored in depth, identify the ideas that resonate most with their communities, influence the creative methods used, and collaborate on collective next steps that emerge.
Creative activities may include visual arts and image-making, creative journaling, poetry and reflective writing, storytelling, visionary fiction and future visioning and other forms of collective meaning-making.
About Gemma
Gemma is an artist-facilitator who has applied experience of using the tools in Emergent Strategy with community groups exploring climate justice and our relationships with nature, waste and consumption.
This workshop is open to community development workers and facilitators who wish to explore complex social justice themes and develop their own practice, in a supportive, creative community.
A light lunch, and a copy of Emergent Strategy, will be provided. We ask that participants are available to commit to all 8 sessions, so please review the dates below before booking:
