Don Vappie and Jazz Creole are a quartet led by Don Vappie, the award-winning Créole banjoist/vocalist; considered as one of the best banjoists in the history of New Orleans.

Alongside Vappie is David Horniblow on clarinet, a big figure on the European stage and frontman of UK band The Dime Notes; Dave Kelbie on rhythm guitar, a prominent accompanist to many of the world’s leading jazz soloists and founder member of The Dime Notes and Django a la Creole; and Sébastien Girardot, powerful swinging Parisian bassist, high in demand across both sides of the Atlantic.

Jazz Créole combines all genres of New Orleans from traditional to modern day funk with the classic early tradition of a string band.
Their hugely successful album The Blue Book of StoryVille was The Sunday Times JAZZ ALBUM OF THE YEAR 2020 and was nominated for Offbeat’s The best of the beat. It was the catalyst for Vappie winning the 2021 Steve Martin Banjo prize and being inaugurated into the Banjo Hall of Fame in 2022.

We looking forward to welcoming this tremendous outfit, swinging past Northern Ireland for a few dates during their UK tour.
