International music sensation and West End heavyweight Peter Corry visited The Playhouse last week ahead of his upcoming performance of smash hit musical ‘The Last Five Years' in September.
Peter Corry will play the role of Jamie in the local performance on the Off Broadway musical by Tony award winning composer, Jason Robert Brown.
Mr Corry was in town for open auditions for an understudy matinee performance of the musical. Two lucky performers will be given the chance to gain valuable knowledge working with the best in the business.
The musical, which will also star singer/songwriter and actress 'Michelle Forbes' as Kathy, is the latest venture by local actor Kieran Griffith's theatre company Ki Productions- best known for their storming production of 'I Love you, You're Perfect, Now Change'.
‘The Last Five Years' will run in The Playhouse from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24th September, and charts the five year relationship of a husband and wife, Jamie and Kathy. Kathy's narrative begins during the divorce and works backwards. Husband Jamie's tale commences just after they met and moves forward.
Peter said "Having worked with Kieran previously we are excited about this project and I'm so pleased to get the chance to visit The Playhouse and tap into some of the great depth of talent here in the city."
Kieran Griffiths, who will direct the production said: "We're so excited about giving this great opportunity to local actors, giving them the chance to develop their skills working with a high calibre talent such as Peter."
" ‘The Last Five Years' is a great story, one we can all relate to, with an outstanding score sung by the best in show business."
Tickets for ‘The Last Five Years' from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24 September at 8pm are £15 and can be booked at The Playhouse box office on 028 7126 8027 or by clciking here. Tickets for the understudy matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday September 24 are half price.
