Urban Funk Youth Dance Summer School will take place on Saturday 2nd, 9th, 16th , 23rd and 30th July 2011 in The Playhouse, Artillery Street Derry/Londonderry. The summer school consists of 5 afternoons of dance training in Hip Hop, Street, Contemporary and Jazz.
Junior Urban Funk Crew (ages 5-10) from 1.00-3.00pm
Senior Urban Funk Crew (ages 11-16) from 3.00-5.00pm
Classes are suitable for children of all abilities. No previous dance training necessary!
At the end of the Summer School, participants will be invited to perform in the Urban Funk 2011 Summer Showcase, also in the Playhouse Theatre. The fee for Urban Funk Youth Dance Summer School is £40 for 5 weeks (family rates available).
Urban Funk is brought to you by Brona Jackson; a profesional dancer, teacher and choreographer from Derry/Londonderry and founder of the North-West's newest dance school, Urban Funk. Brona is a qualified dance facilitator, with an OCN Level 2 in Hip Hop Dance Leadership and is currently a final year student at the University of Ulster, Magee where she is studying a BA Hon's in Contemporary Dance. Brona has two years experience teaching in Secondary and Primary schools across the Derry City Council, Strabane district Council and Limavady district Council areas, as well as with a variety of local community groups. Urban Funk facilitators all have Professional Membership's from the Foundation For Community Dance, Access NI Enhanced Disclosures and are insured.
