The National Theatre will be closed until the 1 July 2020 due to the escalating situation we find ourselves in to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This extended closure means The Welkin will not be performed again at the National Theatre.
It is with regret that the National Theatre Live broadcast of The Welkin The Playhouse on 21st May will be cancelled.
The National Theatre’s mission is to make theatre for everyone, and want to support fans while many are not able to visit venues such as ours, so they have launched National Theatre At Home, an initiative designed to continue to engage our audiences in their homes during this period of confinement.
As part of this the National Theatre will be releasing one back catalogue National Theatre Live title per week across April and May on the National Theatre YouTube channel. These titles will be free to stream, and be available for one week only.
We hope our patrons take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to experience these much-loved National Theatre Live productions at home, and will be inspired to support both National Theatre and our work by enjoying more National Theatre Live screenings in the imtimate setting of our theatre in the future.
Note for customers who have booked tickets for The Welkin with us-
Our box office has been in touch with patrons who have already booked for shows to offer a refund or notify them of alternative dates as soon as they become available.
We know that many of our audiences are incredibly committed to what we do as an organisation, and will want to show us support in this challenging time. There are some patrons who have decided not to take a refund, in which case this money will go directly to our work delivering arts in the community.
We thank everyone is advance for their understanding and support, and continue to ask for everyone to look after themselves and each other.
