MGM Cocktails at Culture Night Club Cabaret!

Posted on: 9th September 2014

The Playhouse will celebrate the glorious heyday of Stage and Screen in a special Club Cabaret with Ursula & Co for this year's massive Culture Night celebrations!

All are welcome to the latest Club Cabaret as part of the City of Derry Culture Night 2014, with Ursula & Co plus Special Guest Linley Hamilton Trumpeter and BBC Radio Broadcaster at the Playhouse on Friday September 19.

Ursula & Co consist of Ursula McHugh, founder of Club Cabaret, singer and hostess for the evening. Band members include Musical Arranger Deirdre Doherty on Piano, Alan Niblock on Double-bass and featuring Special guest Linley Hamilton on Trumpet.

Other surprise guests will visit the club to take part in the course of the evening! Indeed, Club Cabaret promises to offer a rich night of music, melody, magic and mystery.

Sumptuous drapes, romantic lighting, tables dressed with white tablecloths, flowers and little lanterns with a mirror ball above a small dance area reflect Club Cabaret's inspirations of Rick's Cafe in Casablanca and Lazar's Lounge in Gilda.

"To experience an evening at Club Cabaret is to be transported back into another era and become totally immersed in the magic of the 1930s and 1940s in the celebration of fashion style, decor and melodic influences from musical theatre, stage and screen" Kieran Griffiths at The Playhouse said.

"The audience are invited to dress up and step out in style reminiscent of the glamorous, glorious heyday of Stage and Screen, for they are as much part of the special Club Cabaret signature. Ursula & Co present Club Cabaret celebrating the Night of Culture 2014. Enjoy the ambiance of a 1940's nightclub inspired by the Great American Songbook. So put on your dancing shoes and top hats and let's dance!"

Admission to Club Cabaret at Playhouse on Friday September 19 at 8pm is free but booking is recommended. To book contact The Playhouse Box office on 02871268027 or book online HERE

"Shifting easily between the slick and melancholy, MCHUGH fills the room with a dreamlike, romantic quality... MCHUGH is living proof of the fact that "it's never too late to follow your dream". She doesn't just hold back the years; she rolls them back. Effortlessly." Simon Fallaha (Freelance Journalist)
