Evening of festive song with leading local amateur choirs

150 voices singing Great classics such as The Hallelujah chorus, Hark The Herald Angels Sing and The Holy City will light up St Columb's Hall this Christmas in a special evening of song with the city's leading amateur choirs.
Doire Calgach singers, Rosemount male voice choir, Gateway singers, Cantamus, McCafferty School of Music juniors and seniors and Colmcille Ladies Choir will perform at an evening of live orchestral music and song. Hosted on Sunday December 15 at 8pm in the historical setting of St Columbs Hall, ‘Let the City Sing' will celebrate the 80th birthday of Bishop Edward Daly.

"Don't miss this exceptional night of seasonal music in celebration of the season of goodwill" Pauline Ross at The Playhouse said.

"For 40 years the Colmcille Ladies Choir have brought their exquisite music and talents to this city, from Bishop Daly's Golden Jubilee and their Christmas Spectacular, both of which were held in St Columb's Hall, to Westminster Cathedral, the Notre Dame in Paris, and Washington Cathedral".

"They're just delighted to be joined by the city's leading amateur choirs for this special evening of beautiful music. As always profits from the night will go to the fabulous work of Foyle Hospice."

Presented by Colmcille Ladies Choir and The Playhouse, the evening will also mark the fifth anniversary of the passing of Sister Aloysius McVeigh of the Sisters of Mercy, the much loved iconographer and artist in residence at The Playhouse.

Tickets for An Evening of Christmas Music are £8 (proceeds to Foyle Hospice) and are available from The Playhouse Box Office on (028)71268027 or CLICK HERE.
