Dancing down the days!

Posted on: 22nd April 2011

The Playhouse and Diversity Challenges are gearing up for a spectacular show on May 10.

The event will showcase the most popular dances from the 1940s on in town as part of the Dancing Down The Days project.

Dancing Down The Days works with local community groups in Derry/ Londonderry to explore and deliver insight into Rock and Roll, Ballroom dances, Latin, Hip Hop and more.

People who danced as a teenager were also invited to get involved and share their memories and experiences of dance in this city through the years.

During four months the young people were provided with dance workshops first in their own youth clubs, going on to rehearsals at The Playhouse as a neutral venue.

As the show is about history and stories intergenerational meetings were organized in order to support the understanding within the generations.

The event will take place at The Playhouse on Tue 10th May at 8pm. Admission is free (donations welcome). To book contact (028)71268027 or click here.
