The poignant historical tale of the Derry Workhouse, opened in Glendermott Road in Waterside on 10th November 1840.
This new production tells the moving story of the poor and destitute people forced to go into the workhouse, where families were separated, where conditions were squalid and cramped, and where 40 people died each month.
Starring Francis Harkin, Maeve Connolly, Bill Waters, Greta McTague, Micheal McDaid, Roisin O Doherty, Chris McIvor, Maureen Wilkinson, Rachel Melaugh, Muire McCallion, Eileen McMaster, Pól McCloone, Mickey Kelly, Paul Doherty, Peter Davidson, Peter Sherlock, Eoin Callaghan, Michael Way, Marie Dunne and Shaun Coyle.
Several local Primary Schools will be involved in the production, providing original artwork about the workhouse for display in The Playhouse for the run of the show. St Eugene's Primary School and Ballykelly Primary School will provide produce work emulating the workhouse life, varying from drawings/pictures/or letters as children of the workhouse separated from their families etc.Tickets £10 (preview tickets on Wednesday 14th May- £5)
