We’re delighted to partner with the National Youth Theatre as part of their new Auditions Access Fund, offering free participation workshops and auditions at The Playhouse.
The Auditions Access Fund is part of National Youth Theatre’s ongoing commitment to outreach and access, it’s a new fund supported by NYT Alumnus and Patron Hugh Bonneville which supports free participation in workshops and auditions over three years at 30 schools and youth groups around Great Britain and Northern Ireland which have lost drama provision. The first year of the scheme (2019) will see them work in 10 areas with partner organisations.
Every year National Youth Theatre run a national roadshow from January to March where they audition in over 60 venues across GB and Northern Ireland.
This Audition Day follows their Participation Workshop Day at The Playhouse on Saturday 2nd February 2019 2.30pm to 6pm. More infomration about ther Participation Workshop Day can be found HERE.
The Audition Day: In the morning the 20-40 participants take part in a 3 hour workshop with NYT Associates, where we consider how well they work as an ensemble, and in the afternoon they have an individual one on one audition with an NYT Associate where they can perform a monologue of their choice. More info about the structure of our audition day can be found here.
Successful applicants will be invited to take part in our residential summer courses in London, which vary from 2-4 weeks in length depending on your age. After the summer course the young people become NYT Members and remain so until they turn 26. As NYT Members they can audition for NYT shows, take part in workshops, or apply for our long term free training scheme, the REP Company. Bursaries are available for all of our activity.
