Edel Murphy (Celtic Woman, Riverdance) & live band return to The Playhouse.

Featuring evocative projected images alongside thought-provoking spoken word, Edel Murphy performs iconic songs of struggle and celebration from such songwriting greats as Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, Kate Bush, Nanci Griffith, Dolly Parton, and The Beatles.

Following extensive tours with Grammy winning shows Celtic Woman and Riverdance, Edel Murphy – singer, actor and musician – and live band bring you through the Dustbowl of the Great Depression, into the homes of 1950s urban desperation, down streets of protest in the 1960s and into the tumult of the 21st Century.

"An amazing show...Edel Murphy was stunning, the sharpness of her delivery was outstanding. The songs are acerbic and to the point and the backdrop of visuals was very powerful. I was blown away by it”. Dick O’Riordan, Business Post

“A poignant and socially relevant journey over a century of music. Edel Murphy owns these songs and the stage. It was a very moving experience and the musical arrangements are masterful.” Carl Corcoran, RTÉ Lyric FM
“Edel Murphy is a fine singer...” Niall Stokes, Editor of Hot Press
“Edel Murphy haunts and soothes with a voice that would silence angels.”
Chris O’Rourke, The Arts Review

"It is a rare performer that can bring a tear to your eye and a smile to your lips with the sweetness of her singing. Edel Murphy is such a performer.” Liffey Champion

Technical information about watching our shows online

How does it work?

A streaming link and password will be sent by email to watch this show. If you haven’t received the email before the performance or event (the subjuct line will be 'Your tickets are ready') please first check your junk folders, then contact us at

How many tickets do I need to book?
For all of our online events you only need to book once per household - you and your household can watch on as many devices as you wish. However we would ask that you consider how many members of your household might want to watch together and, if you are able to, add a donation to your purchase to support us in this difficult time.

Please be aware that our system does not support 'gifting' theatre tickets to friends just yet (we will soon!). In the meantime, please consider making sure households book separately so streaming link and passwords are sent to each correct household via separate emails.

What about watching back?
If you have purchased a stream and keep or a donation ticket a separate code will be sent to you by email after the show so you can also watch the performance back on demand for 7 days. Please note, shows are unavailable for approx two hours after live broadcast while it is being transcoded. We appreciate your patience during that time.

Can I pause or rewind the live event?

Watching our events live online is like watching a theatre performance in person, so you won’t be able to rewind a live stream broadcast if you arrive late. If you choose to pause, when playing is resumed you will automatically skip ahead to the current moment in the performance (rather than from the point you paused).
If you have booked to watch back, once the live event has finished and the recording has been processed you will be able to catch up and watch the performance again with the options to pause and rewind.

Who can I talk to if I'm having trouble?
