15 members of Lajee Center leave Aida Refugee Camp, Palestine, and travel to The Playhouse as part of an Arts and Cultural Tour.
A creative cultural centre, established in Aida Refugee Camp by a group of 11 young people, Lajee are touring a diverse and educational programme around Ireland and Scotland. As part of the tour an exciting and engaging programme of events will take place at The Playhouse on Tuesday June 25.
Lajee will perform traditional Dabka dancing, exhibit their award-winning photography work, screen their films and speak about all aspects of the Palestinian case, showcasing work representative of Palestinian culture and life, and giving an insight into the work and activities of Lajee Center.
The tour members are young active artists and dancers aged between 15 to 20 years old, with four coordinators and speakers.At 1pm, Tuesday 25th the Playhouse will host a
cross-community event with school children from the city seeing the lajee youth dance and talk about their experiences of life in the refugee camp.
At 7.00 is the main pubic event, which will showcase the photography, a short film shown made by the youth, talks and full performance of Dabkeh, the traditional Palestinian dance.Free (Donations are welcome) To book contact (028)71268027.
