Mask Making Workshop Details:
As you get ready to enter our woodland world, Anann’s Arch and Artitude invite you to join us for a drop-in creative session before the show to make an animal or bird mask that represents the creatures we will meet and find on our story and song-filled journey together.
Using natural, sustainable and foraged materials, we will help you to turn yourself into a heron, jay, fox or other woodland or river-based creature. We invite you to wear your mask during the performance, and help us call our nature words back to life.
*Note for parents/carers: this is an optional drop-in creative workshop and the length of time needed to make a mask will vary depending on age, dexterity and level of detail each child would like to achieve. We recommend allowing at least 20 mins per child to make a mask. The workshop will close 15 minutes before the performance start time. All materials provided.
Performance Blurb:
Some words slip away so quietly that nobody notices they've gone.
Aoife has been indoors all summer, and when she finally steps outside, the world feels bigger and stranger than she remembered. Some parts of it even seem to have lost their names...
There's a shape in her pocket she can't quite see, a book whose pages are fading, and a door across the street she hasn't knocked on in a long time.
Join Aoife as she follows the birdsong, the whispering willow and the river's winding path to bring the lost words back.
With live harp, songs in English and Irish, and a storyteller who has been collecting forgotten things for a very, very long time, The Name of Things is a playful, tender adventure about paying attention, finding your voice and finding your way back.
Inspired by The Lost Words and Spell Songs.
