Celtronic 2021 returns to the city of Derry for the 21st year next month. As part of the acclaimed festival, a very special evening of music is in store at The Playhouse on Saturday December 11th with
performances from Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Myles O’Reilly, David Kitt and The Fully Automatic Model & Rayon Vert.
Rónán Ó Snodaigh is a founding member of the celebrated traditional Irish/world music band Kíla. Described by Hot Press as 'the living embodiment of Turlough O Carolan and Bob Marley',
In a spur of the moment decision informed by another valuable lesson learned in lockdown, that isolation and a generosity of time can do much to fuel the creative mind, Rónán Ó Snodaigh and acclaimed film-maker and musician, Myles O’Reilly filled a car with musical instruments and decamped to a remote cottage in Maynooth. Bringing with him a canon of new lyrics, inspired by deep and new found connections with time, place, family, friends and… gratitude, Rónán found a nest in O’Reilly’s minimal ambient textures, to lay some musical ideas. In the ethereal sound grown to characterise Myles ambient music moniker [Indistinct Chatter], songs were hatched and the ground-breaking album Tá Go Maith was born. It is undoubtedly one of the year’s finest releases.
The event will also feature a live show from one of Ireland’s most loved singer-songwriters David Kitt and two of Derry’s most exciting electronic music artists The Fully Automatic Model and Rayon Vert, who will perform music from their new EP, Quadraphonica.
