ROCK FOR RESEARCH – A NIGHT OF CELEBRATION IN MEMORY OF LIAM CAMPBELL

8th August 2022
Time: 7:00pm
Tickets: Free

On August 8th from 7pm, a space is there for you to come together to hear a bit of music, a story and a memory for our dear brother and friend Liam Campbell. Come celebrate Liam's wit, his music and his words.

The evening is free, however on the evening we are hoping for a kind suggested donation of £7 on the door to support two charities very dear to Liam's heart: Prostate Cancer UK and the Lily Foundation, which supports research into Mitochondrial disease.

Bar opens at 7pm, the event begins at 8pm.

Dr. Liam Campbell was a lecturer in English, a Peacebuilding Project Coordinator, and an independent writer and scholar, who was published both creatively and academically. He gave many talks across Europe and America on Storytelling and the literature of the 20th Century. Liam’s debut full length play ‘The Harbinger’  was winner of the Greer Garson Theatre award and was shortlisted for best new play by an Irish author. Liam work, ‘The Bog Couple’ enjoyed a sold out run and standing ovations at The Playhouse in February 2018 and Millennium Forum in January 2019 and his 2018 play ‘The Monk, The Bird and The Priest’ was described as “Really really powerful” (BBC Radio Ulster) and “Harrowing, hard-hitting & heart-wrenching”. His final play for The Playhouse, 'The White Handkerchief' was performed live and broadcast to thousands from the city's Guildhall to mark the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.  Liam passed away on 20th December 2021 and is sorely missed.
