Front & Centre Scratch
Thurs 15th September 2026 | 2pm
The Playhouse | £5 donation | Approx. 90mins
Four groups. One audience. Nothing finished.
Scratch is where an idea finds out whether it actually works in front of people.
Four short pieces will be presented one after the other — scripts in hands, little or no set, and work that has never met an audience before. Some of it will fly. Some of it might not. That’s the point.
There’ll be a break to talk in between, with your response forming an important part of the process and helping artists develop the work further.
The whole of your £5 donation goes directly to The Playhouse’s Next Stage Programme and the young artists on our BRIDGE programme — supporting the people making the work next.
You don’t need to know anything about theatre or have an opinion ready. If you’ve ever wondered what a play looks like before it looks like a play, this is that.
As the work is new and unfinished, we cannot always say in advance what each piece contains. Anything we do know will be flagged on the day.
Capacity is limited — come along, see new work take its first steps and help shape what comes next.
