ANTHONY TONER

27th November 2021
Time: 8PM
Tickets: Tickets £12/ £10

Anthony Toner returns to the beautiful surroundings of The Playhouse with his trademark intimate acoustic show and his twelfth album, a collection of brand new songs to add to his huge back catalogue.

The collection, entitled Six Inches of Water, has been inspired by east Belfast - and the city in general, with the title track being a story set against the backdrop of the lovely old Corporation Baths at Templemore Avenue, near where he lives in the east of the city.

Elsewhere the suite of ten songs cover everything from lovelorn taxi drivers to the Workers Council strike in 1974, the Belfast Blitz, and more... There's a refreshingly uptempo cover of Van Morrison's 'Orangefield' and a tribute to the late actor/director Sam McCready here, too.

In addition, Anthony will of course be playing songs from throughout his 20-year career, including 'Cousins at Funerals', 'Sailortown', 'Well Well Well', 'The Road to Fivemiletown' and many more. As always, expect some fine guitar playing and singing, and some entertaining between-song banter and stories from the road.

Technical information about watching our shows online

How does it work?

An individual streaming link will be sent by email to watch this show. If you haven’t received the email before the performance or event, first check your junk folders, then contact us at aine@derryplayhouse.com

How many tickets do I need to book?
For all of our online events you only need to book once per household. However we would ask that you consider how many members of your household might want to watch together and, if you are able to, add a donation to your purchase to support us in this difficult time.

There is a limit to the number of times your individual link can be activitated, but we recommend testing your link once in advance of the show as least once to allow time for troubleshooting or technical support.

Please be aware that our system does not support 'gifting' theatre tickets to friends just yet (we will soon!). In the meantime, please consider making sure households book separately so seperate streaming links are sent to each correct household via separate emails.

What about watching back?

Shows are unavailable for approx 24 hours after live broadcast while it is being transcoded. We appreciate your patience during that time. After that you will have 7 days to watch back at your leisure.

Can I pause or rewind the live event?

Watching our events live online is like watching a theatre performance in person, so you won’t be able to rewind a live stream broadcast if you arrive late. If you choose to pause, when playing is resumed you will automatically skip ahead to the current moment in the performance (rather than from the point you paused).

If you are watching back, once the live event has finished and the recording has been processed you will be able to catch up and watch the performance again with the options to pause and rewind.

Who can I talk to if I'm having trouble?
