Established or emerging practice welcome

Theatre-makers and dance-theatre makers aged 25 and over, based in or connected to Derry/Strabane, who want to develop or deepen their practice in making theatre for younger audiences.

The Residency

Two blocks over six months

September to November 2026, then January to March 2027. Dedicated research and development time, the chance to shadow an in-house production, and a showing to a live audience in February.

What's Provided

Paid time and real support

A paid fee for the residency, rehearsal and performance space, technical and production support, two paid performers, and mentorship from our Senior Producer throughout.

Research & Development

Dedicated R&D days to research, prototype and test ideas, alongside shadowing the development of our Halloween show for younger audiences.

Making & Rehearsal

Focused development and rehearsal time to shape a playful, ambitious 10 to 15 minute piece for younger audiences.

Sharing the Work

A public showing to a live audience, with time built in afterwards for reflection and planning what comes next.

Introductions to leading children's theatre companies and wider networks, opening doors beyond The Playhouse.
