A new production performed by six family members of those killed in the Ballymurphy massacre will tour Northern Ireland this month.

‘Our Lives Without You' by Alessia Cartoni is a new Playhouse Theatre of Witness production in which family members of those killed in the massacre share their poetic stories about mourning, loss and healing.

The production is announced as Secretary of State Theresa Villiers rejected an independent re-examination of the killings last week. Families of the bereaved are considering a legal challenge against the Government decision.

The production is one of two presented by the Theatre of Witness mentoring program, in which two practitioners each create a new production under the guidance of Artistic Director, Teya Sepinuck.

Alessia Cartoni, has been working with family members from the Ballymurphy massacre and Thomas Spiers, with two couples of mixed marriage. Each of them has scripted, produced and directed a new Theatre of Witness production. Performances will be held in Enniskillen, Belfast and Derry-Londonderry.

‘Unspoken Love' by Thomas Spiers explores stories of mixed marriage in Northern Ireland. The inspirational production performed by two Northern Irish mixed marriage couples, explores issues of sectarianism, family legacy, trauma and love.

Theatre of Witness is a model of performance developed by Teya Sepinuck in 1986 that gives voice to those whose stories have not been heard in society. The true, life stories, of people from diverse backgrounds are performed by the people themselves, so that audiences can collectively bear witness to issues of suffering, redemption and social justice.

"Mentoring Thomas and Alessia has allowed Theatre of Witness in Northern Ireland to expand. I am delighted with the beautiful work each of them has produced" Teya Sepinuck said.

‘Unspoken Love' by Thomas Spiers and ‘Our Lives Without You' by Alessia Cartoni will tour from Tuesday May 27 to Saturday May 31. Admission is free for all performances.
