The Playhouse is delighted to announce that it is starting work on a major European arts project, working with partners across Europe. The iRemember European project which is being led by Italian partners, including one the largest University in Europe, The University of Rome! Other partner countries include Armenia, Romania, Spain and Portugal.
The iRemember project aims to develop, share and test an innovative methodology for the teaching/learning of contemporary history based on a participatory and collaborative on site and on line approach. This methodology will enhance the teaching skills of teachers and trainers through an effective and easy to use tool involving intergenerational management techniques, storytelling and storyboarding techniques and innovative technology. iRemember is funded by the Italian government through the EU ERASMUS+ funding.
This innovative project for The Playhouse follows on from a succession of European projects involving partners in Italy, Finland, Austria, France, Poland to name but a few.
Niall Mc Caughan, Chief Executive of The Playhouse stated: "We were delighted to be asked by the Lead Partner in Italy again to be part of a new and innovative project, and particularly to be working with The University of Rome. It's a privilege to be recognised for our work; often in N.Ireland and particularly in the North West, we down play the quality of the great work taking place on our own door step. We have found in the past that once we start working with new European partners, it lead's onto another European project and so forth. It's great to be involved in such projects, not only to showcase what we do, but also to learn what else is happening across Europe in this sector, and taking these skills and experiences back to N.Ireland.
Gavin O'Connor, Youth Arts Development Officer, Arts Council of Northern Ireland stated: "The Arts Council applaud The Playhouse on their involvement in this pioneering educational initiative with European partners. This projects highlights the importance of Northern Ireland projects in sharing and developing best practice and we wish them every success with iRemember as it develops and evolves."
