Course Days Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 10 am to 4pm
Artskills Project is ideal for young people aged 16 - 24years old would like
to get their essential skills and are not in education, employment( under
16hrs) and training. This project uses the arts as an alternative medium to
developing literacy encompassing the four core element of Speaking,
Listening, and Reading & Writing. This approach would suit young people who
would like an alternative formal education and who would like to gain
qualifications via a creative approach. The learning approaches are
interactive and participatory
The benefits of this course are numerous young people will obtain UK
recognized qualifications in Arts, Literacy and ICT Skills, develop their
confidence, self esteem and transferable skills as well as having the
opportunity to display their work at an end of year show case.
The training It is a course funded by The Department of education and
learning, The European social fund and The Arts Council. It upskills young
people to achieve OCN Level 1 in Creative Writing, Digital Photograph, Web
Design, Performance, Film and Video & CCEA Literacy.
If you have young people who are not in education, employment (16hrs) or
training and have not achieved their essential skills then they can apply
for this course
This course is due to begin in the playhouse Derry in January 10th 2012 for
three days per week for twelve weeks.
There is also assistance with child care and travel costs, benefits remain
unaffected and cash bonus available at the end upon successful completion of
the course. Lunch is provided daily.
If you have young people interested who are slightly outside the criteria
please do still contact me as we maybe able to work with them. We can take
applications from young people from Derry, Limavady and Dungiven, if you
have any workers in those areas please feel free to pass on.
