The Playhouse Artskills Project has announced two new course starting in October 2013.
Artskills is an innovative project which provides training for young people aged 16 - 24 who are not in education, employment(under 16hrs) or training, using the arts as an innovative method to increasing literacy skills whilst being creative and having fun.
This approach would suit young people who would like an alternative to formal education and who would like to gain qualifications via a creative approach. The learning approaches are interactive and participatory.
The benefits of this course are numerous young people will obtain 6 UK recognized qualifications in Arts, Literacy and ICT Skills, develop their confidence, self esteem and transferable skills as well as having the opportunity to display their work at an end of year show case.
The course is funded by The European social fund, The Department of education and learning and The Arts Council. It upskills young people to achieve OCN Level 1 in Creative Writing, Digital Photograph, Web Design, Performance, Film and Video & CCEA Literacy.
CERES House Ballykelly will host a new Artskills course from Tuesday 1st October every Tuesday & Wednesday from 10 am to 4pm for twenty weeks until March 2014.
The second course, in partnership with Benbradagh Community support, Dungiven will begin in October 2013 in Benbradagh Community Support, 106 main Street Dungiven.
