THE RETURN OF THE PLAYHOUSE JAZZ FESTIVAL SPEAKEASY

Thursday 27th April 2017 to Sunday 30th April 2017 9:30pm

Music, danger, excitement and old fashioned post war punch! The original Speakeasy is back by popular demand for its fourth year! We've had gangsters and gambling, molls and dolls, 50's swing and G.I. blues... every year there's always something exciting and new to enjoy.


CLUB CABARET presents A Night with O'Day
Thursday 27th April 2017 8pm

Vocalists Joan Talbot and Ursula McHugh will take you on a mesmerising and magical journey celebrating the Anita O'Day Story (1919 - 2006), through narrative and song (solo and duet), spanning the Chicago singer's six decades.

LINLEY HAMILTON QUARTET
Friday 28th April 2017 8pm

The Quintet comprises many of the finest musicians in Ireland, this will be a well-polished presentation with standards mixed with Bebop, contemporary tunes given a jazz treatment and more than a few surprises thrown in. A night not to be missed as generations intertwine and musicianship gets a chance to shine!

THE HENRY GIRLS - A TRIBUTE TO THE BOSWELL SISTERS

The Henry Girls need little introduction having enchanted audiences here for many years with their beautiful folk harmonies. They are now back for a very special show for the 2017 Derry Jazz Festival.

PIANO MASTERCLASS WITH STEINWAY ARTIST ROBERT MITCHELL
Sunday 30th April 2017 - 12 noon

Born in Ilford, London, Mitchell has forged a formidable reputation as a gifted pianist and composer. As part of the F-ire Collective, Robert won the Jazz on 3 Innovation Award at the 2004 BBC Jazz Awards; he has also been nominated twice: for Rising Star in 2002, and Best New Work in 2003. Join Robert Mitchell for an exciting workshop showcasing his many skills on the Steinway.

PAUL McINTYRE & FRIENDS
Sunday 30th April 2017 8pm

Paul McIntyre (PhD, BMus, LTCL, PGCHEP, Dip Mus) performs regularly at international jazz festivals and for numerous broadcasters. McIntyre is joined by double bassist Dave Fleming (Dublin) and drummer Kevin Brady(Dublin). With special appearance by Gay McIntyre.
