The Playhouse is teaming up learning disabled groups from Derry Londonderry, Germany and Poland to add a splash of colour to this year's St Patrick's Day parade.
Resident theatre comany at The Playhouse Derry, Lilliput Theatre Company - one of Ireland's leading theatre and disability groups - will be working with adults with learning disabilities from Internationaler Bund, Frankfurt in Germany and Polish Association for Persons with Mental Disability (PSOUU), Gdansk in Poland.
The groups will collaborate in the week lead up to St Patrick's Day by participating in a mix of drumming, percussion and arts workshops led by Ailbhe Hines, Louise McElhinney, Colmcille Pipe Band, and In Your Space.
They will be strutting their stuff on Derry City Council's St Patrick's Day Parade with costumes celebrating each country, percussion, movement and moving sculptures. The groups will also be visiting some of the North West's attractions including Antrim Coast, Derry's City Walls and Anchor Bar.
The project is funded by EU Grundtvig, and a group of learning disabled from N Ireland will make a return trip to Poland later this year.
