Drummer David Lyttle is Ireland's most celebrated jazz musician of today. He's the island's only MOBO Award nominee and has made appearances in over twenty countries, including recent artist residencies in China and the U.S. Growing up in a prominent musical family in Co. Armagh, he's gone on to collaborate with global icons of jazz and hip hop, and his latest album was described by Rolling Stone magazine as ‘one of the best listening experiences you're likely to have all year'. At this year's festival he will perform with his new trio featuring two of the UK's jazz stars: Scottish pianist Steve Hamilton and U.S. bassist Michael Janisch.
20-year-old jazz guitar star on the rise Joseph Leighton started to become a familiar face locally in his mid-teens with his band the Kashmir Krows. A protégée of David Lyttle since discovering jazz at sixteen, he attended the Banff Centre's in Canada under Vijay Iyer in 2015 and in 2016 was awarded Moving On Music's Emerging Artist Platform bursary, which allowed him to study with modern guitar icon Jesse van Ruller in Amsterdam.
