The Playhouse invites tenders for:

Socially Engaged Artist

(Open to individuals from Northern Ireland & the Border Counties who are practicing in any art form e.g. theatre, film, art, music etc.)

Project Background
The Playhouse's Theatre Peace Building Project has received funding of €859k from the EU Peace IV for a programme of work starting in January 2018 - June 2020 that will be delivered in locations throughout Northern Ireland and the Border Counties of the Republic of Ireland (Donegal, Sligo, Monaghan, Leitrim, Cavan & Louth).

The Theatre Peace Building Project draws on this previous work and, in partnership with Holywell Trust, Thomas D'Arcy McGee Foundation and Queens University, will programme a range of nationally / internationally theatre artists with significant experience of using arts activity in areas of conflict & post conflict / areas of social breakdown to promote healing and reconciliation within Northern Ireland and the Border Counties.

Tender Brief

Local Artists will work closely with, and be mentored by, the first of our selected National / International Artists: Jo Egan. The aim is to develop meaningful creative collaboration which aids the delivery and impact of quality Arts & Peace Building work, as well as enhancing the Local Artists' creative practice.

We will select two Local Artists to work alongside and be mentored by the first of our National / International artists (details below).

The National / International artist is Jo Egan. Jo was selected as the first of four Socially Engaged Theatre Practitioners. Jo's six month residency has commenced (from May 2018) and will culminate in a theatre production at The Playhouse in November 2018. Jo will be working in and around the North West of Ireland region.

Jo is a professionally produced playwright, trained oral archivist, theatre producer, director and facilitator. She is the Artistic Director of Macha Productions, a theatre company dedicated to the democratisation of theatre creation and participation. For more information: www.jo-egan-playwright.com

Jo's residency is based in the North West of Ireland; her project studio is in The Playhouse.

The deadline for the receipt of Tenders is: 12noon (UK Time) on Monday 2nd July.

The selected artists will be notified as soon as possible after that date. Two Socially Engaged Artists will be selected as a result of this tendering process. Appointment will be subject to references and eligibility to work in the UK.
